Preparations underway for actor Vijay-led TVK’s first conference in Tamil Nadu

New Delhi: Preparations are in full swing in Tamil Nadu’s Villupuram for the inaugural state-level conference of actor-turned-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). The conference is set to take place at Vikravandi V Salai village.

Party cadres have expressed enthusiasm about Vijay’s foray into politics. One member while talking to news agency ANI, said, “Actor Vijay has come to politics now and we believe he will do a lot of welfare work for our people. Definitely, he is going to face the upcoming elections and win too. Our kids and children want to see our leader actor Vijay but unfortunately, there will be a heavy crowd so we can’t bring them. They have asked us to take a picture with him.”

Vijay’s political journey began earlier this year

In a message on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Vijay addressed his volunteers, emphasising the importance of safety at the event. He advised against travelling by two-wheeler and urged attendees to follow traffic regulations. “Your safety is my priority,” he stated.

Vijay’s political journey began earlier this year when he announced the establishment of TVK in February. With the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections approaching, the atmosphere in V Salai is charged with speculation regarding the party’s potential direction. The venue features cutouts of prominent figures such as B R Ambedkar and E V Ramasamy, hinting at the ideological influences that may shape the party’s agenda.

What’s on the agenda

Although specific details about the conference schedule remain under wraps, reports suggest that several political leaders and former bureaucrats may declare their support for TVK during the event. The conference will occupy 85 acres, with an additional 207 acres allocated for parking, and the main entrance designed to resemble Chennai’s historic Fort St. George.

Various cultural performances, speeches from key figures, and Vijay’s presidential address are among the key events planned.
