In fact, a total of 65 personalities were honored in the second phase of Padma Awards held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. During this, cricketer Rohit Sharma, actor R. Madhavan and many other prominent personalities also received honours. However, Alka Yagnik’s presence at the function attracted people’s attention. When she moved towards the stage to receive the honour, weakness was visible in her gait. People present at the program also expressed concern about his health condition. Alka Yagnik also greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi before receiving the honour.
Alka Yagnik’s illness changed her life
Actually, recently Alka Yagnik had told through social media that she is suffering from a rare ear related disease. According to singer Alka Yagnik, she suddenly lost her hearing after the flight journey. After examination, doctors diagnosed him with a rare problem called “sensory nerve hearing loss”. Alka Yagnik had said that this problem came to light after a viral infection.
This disease had an impact on both his professional and personal life. After not being seen in public for several weeks, he himself shared information about his condition. In his message he had told that this sudden problem had surprised him. This was the reason that when she appeared at the Rashtrapati Bhavan function after a long time, people’s eyes were fixed on her.
R Madhavan honored with Padma Shri
Well-known actor, filmmaker and screenwriter Madhavan Ranganathan was awarded the Padma Shri for his contribution to the field of Indian cinema and art. Actor Satish Shah, known for his versatility and comic timing in the field of art, was also awarded Padma Shri posthumously. This award was accepted by his brother Arvind. Satish Shah worked in many memorable films and TV shows in his career spanning four decades.
Dr. Lyudmila Khokhlova, distinguished professor of Indology and linguist, was also honored with Padma Shri by President Draupadi Murmu. Dr. Khokhlova has written six books and ninety-two research papers in Russian, English and Hindi. He has done important research on historical linguistics, in which his study on the origin and development of Sikhism is particularly noteworthy.
Rohit Sharma was awarded Padma Shri
Former Indian men’s cricket team captain Rohit Sharma was awarded the Padma Shri for his extraordinary contribution to the field of sports. Rohit Sharma has a unique record of scoring three double centuries in One Day International cricket. Apart from this, the Indian team also won the 2024 T20 World Cup under his captaincy.
A total of 131 persons were selected for the Padma Awards for the year 2026. Earlier, in the first phase on May 25, Padma Awards were given to 66 celebrities including Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur and actor Dharmendra.
