President Murmu Graces 119th Birth Anniversary of Sree Sivakumara Swamiji
President of India Droupadi Murmu attended the 119th birth anniversary celebrations and Guruvandana Mahotsava of Dr Sree Sree Sivakumara Mahaswamiji at Sree Siddaganga Math in Tumakuru, Karnataka, on April 1, 2026.
Addressing the gathering, the President described saints like Sivakumara Swamiji as the soul of society and the nation. She said that although Swamiji attained samadhi in 2019, his spiritual legacy continues to inspire and guide generations. His life, dedicated to the service of the poor and underprivileged, stands as a shining example of spirituality expressed through welfare activities.
The President praised Sree Siddaganga Math for carrying forward Swamiji’s noble mission. She noted that the Math has established educational institutions ranging from primary schools to engineering and management colleges, along with Sree Siddha-Ganga Hospital, which provides quality healthcare to the public.
She emphasised that the Math upholds centuries-old traditions of service and spirituality while adapting to modern needs. Highlighting the importance of education, she said that knowledge builds character, fosters self-reliance, and creates an inclusive society. By educating underprivileged students from rural and marginalised backgrounds, the Math contributes significantly to nation-building.
The President underlined that diligence, public service, and national service are interconnected, with spirituality forming their foundation. She commended Karnataka for its contributions to public service, spirituality, and modern progress, expressing confidence that the state will continue to lead in nation-building.
She concluded by stating that true homage to Sivakumara Swamiji lies in following the path of service, philanthropy, and devotion to duty.
