President Murmu launches ‘Skill the Nation’ Challenge: AI is a big opportunity for young India
New Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu launched the ‘Skill the Nation’ Challenge at a special event at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Center on Thursday. This campaign aims to encourage youth to participate more in skill programs that prepare them for the future. On this occasion, the President also virtually inaugurated the Regional Center of Indira Gandhi National Open University in Rairangpur, Odisha.
This center will strengthen skill-based education and training in Northern Odisha, which will increase employment opportunities. The program was organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. It is part of the SOAR (Skilling for AI Readiness) initiative under the Skill India Mission, which focuses on preparing India’s workforce for an Artificial Intelligence (AI) future.
The President also presented certificates related to AI to many people including students and Members of Parliament at the event. Addressing the gathering, the President said that Artificial Intelligence is reshaping economies and societies across the world. It is changing the way we learn, work and access services. For a young country like India, AI is not just a technology but a big opportunity.
He stressed that India’s vision has always been that technology should empower people. Take everyone along and increase opportunities for everyone. AI should be used to reduce social, economic and technological distance. Its benefits should reach people of all ages and backgrounds, especially marginalized communities.
The President was pleased that students were preparing themselves for a future full of opportunities. He asked the youth to use technology, knowledge and skills to serve the society, solve challenges and empower others. He praised the Members of Parliament who completed the AI learning module. By learning this, he has set a good example of leadership.
The President said that AI is becoming an important growth driver for the Indian economy. In the coming times, it will play a big role in GDP, employment and productivity. Skills like data science, AI engineering and data analytics will be important in strengthening the country’s AI talent.
The government is working closely with institutions, industry and academia to ensure India embraces technology and builds a responsible future. The President appealed to everyone to work together to create a developed India. He said that according to the National Education Policy, India has to be made a knowledge superpower and a technology-based, inclusive and prosperous country.
