President Murmu leads the Bhoomi Pujan of Sri Jagannath Temple in Jamshedpur
President of India Droupadi Murmu attended the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony of Sri Jagannath Temple in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand on February 26,
The Shri Jagannath Spiritual and Cultural Charitable Centre Trust hosted the event.
The President highlighted that Mahaprabhu Jagannath is revered as the Lord of the universe, showering grace equally on all humanity. She praised the Kolhan region for blending tribal traditions with spiritual practices, creating a unique example of harmony.
She emphasised that social unity reflects devotion to Mahaprabhu Jagannath. She expressed concern about global conflicts but noted the growing respect for Indian spiritual traditions worldwide. She said that devotion strengthens the belief that Mahaprabhu Jagannath ensures the well‑being of humanity.
The President underscored the importance of compassion and charity in the Indian spiritual tradition. She appreciated the Trust’s efforts in supporting education for underprivileged children and advised prioritising hostel facilities for those from financially weaker families.
She also welcomed the Trust’s initiative to arrange a residential learning program for the study of Srimad‑Bhagavad‑Gita. She said this program would contribute to spiritual awakening, character building, and personality development among youth.
The Bhoomi Pujan ceremony marked a significant step in strengthening cultural and spiritual values in Jamshedpur. The President’s presence reinforced the importance of devotion, compassion, and education in shaping a harmonious society.
