President Murmu to inaugurate ASOSAI conference on Tuesday

President Draupadi Murmu will inaugurate the meeting of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) here on Tuesday.

The four-day conference will be followed by a series of discussions on the evolving role of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) in promoting transparency and accountability.

“President Draupadi Murmu will inaugurate the prestigious 16th General Assembly of ASOSAI here on September 24, 2024,” the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) said in the statement.

A key highlight of this year’s gathering is the assumption of charge by CAG of India, Girish Chandra Murmu, as President of ASOSAI for the term 2024-2027.

“His leadership is expected to take the association to new heights in public auditing, especially in strengthening governance frameworks across Asia,” CAG said.

As part of the programme, the delegates will also participate in a one-day seminar on digital public infrastructure and inclusion and accessibility. 200 delegates from 42 countries and international organisations will participate in this conference.

ASOSAI was established in 1979 with 11 members. Today 48 top audit institutions are its members. The first meeting of ASOSAI and the Governing Council meeting was held in May, 1979 in New Delhi.
