President of the United Nations General Assembly Annalena Baerbock met Foreign Minister Jaishankar, big discussion took place on Iran-Israel war

New Delhi: President of the United Nations General Assembly, Annalena Baerbock, has reached New Delhi on a two-day visit to India. On Tuesday, April 28, he met Foreign Minister S. Met Jaishankar. In this meeting, the current conflict in West Asia (Middle East) was discussed, in which the situation related to Iran was also included.

Many issues were discussed under the hosting of Jaishankar

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar hosted Annalena Barebock at Hyderabad House. In the meeting, both the leaders discussed in detail the 80th session of the United Nations (UN80), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the need to reform multilateralism. Jaishankar said that today’s multilateral system should be changed keeping in mind the realities of the Global South. He also praised Baerbock’s leadership.

Discussion on Iran and West Asia conflict

In the meeting, special attention was paid to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Both sides shared their concerns regarding regional stability, peace and humanitarian situation. However, the meeting mainly focused on multilateral issues.

Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat

At the beginning of her India tour, Annalena Baerbock reached Rajghat and paid tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The Ministry of External Affairs described it as a tribute to Bapu’s eternal thoughts.

AI was also discussed

Baerbock also participated in an interactive session on governance and regulation of Artificial Intelligence with officials of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

India-UN’s strong partnership

This visit was done by Foreign Minister S. It took place on the invitation of Jaishankar. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, this visit reflects the strong partnership between India and the United Nations. Baerbock is well acquainted with India. She has already visited India when she was the Foreign Minister of Germany.

After the tour, Annalena Barebock will leave for China. This is the second recent high-level visit to India by the United Nations. Earlier in February, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres had come to Delhi to attend the AI ​​Summit.
