Preußen Münster and Fortuna Düsseldorf’s home streak

Preußen Münster and Fortuna Düsseldorf shared the spoils in a 2. Bundesliga relegation six-pointer on Friday.

Fortuna Düsseldorf’s three-game home winning streak came to an end with a disappointing goalless draw with Preußen Münster. The pre-season promotion favorites were winless in front of their supporters before victories against Greuther Fürth, Arminia Bielefeld, and SC Paderborn.

And that run ended unexpectedly with Preußen Münster managing to extend their draw streak to three games. The hosts are also unbeaten in the last three matchdays despite a missed opportunity to climb up in the standings.

As it was the case with relegation six-pointers, it was a physical game as seven players went into the referee’s handbook. The last twenty minutes saw the best chances of the game, with both teams knowing a draw wouldn’t do them much good in the race for survival.

Before the rest of the action, Düsseldorf are now up to 11th, but they’re only two points ahead of 16th-placed Münster. Markus Anfang’s side will face the current league leaders Darmstadt next week, while Münster host out-of-form Kaiserslautern.
