Prez Murmu, PM Modi, Odisha CM, LoP and Others Express Grief Over Asha Bhosle’s Passing

India mourns the loss of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, whose death has drawn heartfelt tributes from national and state leaders.


President Droupadi Murmu also expressed sorrow, calling her demise an irreparable loss to the music world. She highlighted Asha Bhosle’s iconic career that defined an era of Indian music. Murmu remembered her personal interactions with the singer and praised her for living life on her own terms as an artist and individual. She said her melodious voice will live forever in the hearts of music lovers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he felt deeply saddened by her passing, describing her as one of India’s most versatile voices. He recalled her musical journey that enriched cultural heritage and touched millions worldwide. Modi added that he would cherish his personal conversations with her and emphasised that her songs will continue to inspire future generations.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi joined in the tributes, describing her voice as an emotion that defined generations. He prayed to Lord Jagannath for her soul’s eternal peace and conveyed condolences to her family and admirers.

Meanwhile, Odisha Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik expressed grief over a separate tragedy, the boat capsize in Vrindavan, which claimed the lives of devotees. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and wished a swift recovery for those hospitalised.

The passing of Asha Bhosle marks the end of an era in Indian music, with leaders and citizens alike remembering her timeless contribution.
