JioHotstar’s new subscription plans

On January 19, 2025, JioHotstar announced a price increase for its Super and Premium subscription plans. These new plans will be effective from January 28, 2025. For high-end users, quarterly and annual plans have now become a bit expensive, while for mobile users, new cheaper monthly plans have been offered starting at ₹79.

The company claims that this change has been made due to the change in the content viewing habits of users. The number of people watching content on large-screen devices has increased significantly over the past year, necessitating the new pricing.

New prices for Super and Premium subscriptions

The prices of quarterly and annual plans for mobile users have remained unchanged, but Super and Premium subscribers will now have to pay more for longer term plans. The Premium annual plan has increased from ₹1,499 to ₹2,199, while the Super annual plan has been increased from ₹899 to ₹1,099. The prices of both these quarterly plans have also been increased.

JioHotstar has added monthly plans across all categories, providing more options for new users or those looking to subscribe for a limited period of time.

Mobile users will have to spend more for Hollywood content

From now on, Hollywood content will be available only in Super and Premium plans for new users. At the same time, mobile users will have to purchase a separate paid add-on to watch Hollywood content. There will be no price increase for users with existing subscriptions while auto renewal is on. Additionally, JioHotstar’s reach has now become much wider, with over 1 billion downloads on Google Play and over 450 million monthly users in India.
