Prime Minister Modi spoke to French President Macron: Discussion on restoring peace and stability in West Asia

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday and discussed shared concerns over the changing situation in West Asia. During the telephone conversation, Prime Minister Modi and Macron discussed the situation in West Asia and the need for resumption of dialogue and diplomacy.

After talks with Macron, Modi said they will continue to interact closely and coordinate efforts for the early restoration of peace and stability in the region. Modi said in a post on ‘X’, “Today I spoke to my friend President Emmanuel Macron. We discussed our shared concerns about the changing situation in West Asia and the need to return to dialogue and diplomacy.

“We will continue close cooperation and coordinated efforts for the early restoration of peace and stability in the region,” he said. The conflict in West Asia began after US and Israeli military strikes on Iran on February 28, which killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Following the military attack, Iran launched attacks targeting Israeli and American military bases in several Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The conflict has escalated significantly in the last few days due to attacks and counter-attacks from both sides.
