Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Assam: Inaugurated IIM Guwahati and National Data Center
Guwahati, 14 February. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Guwahati and inaugurated a high-tech data center that will cater to the needs of the entire Northeast. The Prime Minister inaugurated the temporary campus of IIM Guwahati through digital medium, which is expected to provide a significant boost to higher education and management education in the North Eastern region.
The central government had approved the establishment of an IIM in Guwahati last year. It is the second IIM in the North-East and the 22nd IIM in the country. The first IIM of the region is located in Shillong. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the National Data Center (NDC) for the North Eastern Region established at Amingaon in Kamrup district of Assam through digital medium from Lachit Ghat.
This state-of-the-art data center has a sanctioned capacity of 8.5 MW and an average capacity of 10 kW per rack. This data center will handle critical applications of various government departments and will also act as a disaster recovery center for other NDCs. Modi also flagged off 225 electric buses under the PM-eBus service scheme. Of these, 100 buses are for Guwahati, 50-50 buses are for Nagpur and Bhavnagar and 25 buses are for Chandigarh.
