Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Indira Gandhi and Rani Lakshmibai on their birth anniversary.
New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tribute to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary. Along with this, he also remembered Rani Laxmibai on her birth anniversary and paid tribute to her. Posting on the social media platform 'X', the PM said, “Tributes to our former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary.” In another post, he said, “Tributes to the fearless Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi, a true embodiment of courage and patriotism, on her birth anniversary.” “His bravery and efforts in the fight for freedom will continue to inspire future generations.”
Indira Gandhi, the first and only female Prime Minister of India, was born on 19 November 1917. Indira was the Prime Minister of the country from 1966 to 1977 and then from 1980 to 31 October 1984. Indira Gandhi was assassinated on 31 October 1984. She was the only child of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.

On this day, the birth anniversary of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi is also celebrated. Lakshmibai played an important role in the revolution of 1857 against the then British rule. The Revolution of 1857 is also known as India's first war of independence. The British were constantly trying to take over his kingdom. Protesting against this, Lakshmibai gave up her life fighting bravely against the British, but she never bowed down before them. Upon his death, Huroz said, “There lies a woman sleeping here who was the only man among the rebels.” Recalling her bravery, the PM said that Rani Lakshmibai's leadership in adverse circumstances showed what true determination means.
