Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award: 20 children including cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi received Children’s Award, honored by President Draupadi Murmu
New Delhi, 26 December. President Draupadi Murmu honored children who have made extraordinary achievements in various fields with the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award. On the occasion of Brave Children’s Day, President Draupadi Murmu on Friday honored 20 children with ‘Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award’. These children have been selected from 18 states and union territories.
Bihar’s Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who is fast emerging at the international level as an explosive batsman, was honored with the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award by President Draupadi Murmu on Friday. In the last one year, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has surprised cricket fans around the world with his batting in every format in India and abroad. He was selected for this honor in view of his extraordinary batting ability and performance.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is in Delhi because of the felicitation ceremony. Being in Delhi, he is not a part of the Bihar team in the match being played against Manipur in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Ranchi. Vaibhav Suryavanshi played an inning of 190 runs on 84 balls against Arunachal Pradesh in the first match of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. This innings included 16 fours and 15 sixes.

The year 2025 has been golden for Vaibhav. It started by scoring a century against Gujarat Titans while playing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025. By scoring a century in 35 balls, Vaibhav had made the record of the Indian scoring the fastest century in the league. He scored 252 runs in 7 matches of IPL 2025. Apart from this, Vaibhav had recently scored a century in the Under-19 Asia Cup. Vaibhav has also scored a century in Youth ODI. 26th December is celebrated as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’.
On this occasion, children who demonstrate extraordinary talent in areas like bravery, art and culture, environment, innovation, science and technology, social service and sports are honored with the Prime Minister’s ‘National Children’s Award’. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Gobind Singh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced to celebrate 26 December as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ in memory of the martyrdom of his sons Sahibzade Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh on January 9, 2022.
