Princess Kate honours Nigerian guests with elegant green tribute

Kate Middleton made a striking style statement at a state banquet, using fashion to pay tribute to visiting Nigerian delegates.

Held at Windsor Castle, the formal evening saw the Princess of Wales arrive in a floor-length gown by Singaporean designer Andrew Gn. The rich green colour of the dress appeared to nod to Nigeria’s national flag, often associated with the country’s natural heritage.

Kate completed the look with the iconic Lover’s Knot Tiara, along with earrings that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II, adding historical significance to her ensemble.

The banquet brought together several senior members of the royal family, including Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, all in attendance to welcome the Nigerian delegation.

Prince William and Kate also shared a glimpse of the evening on social media, posting a polished video capturing their arrival and moments from the event.

During the banquet, King Charles delivered a speech that included a light-hearted reference to the ongoing debate over the best version of Jollof rice. Reflecting on a recent gathering, he joked about the friendly rivalry between countries such as Nigeria, Ghana and Senegal, ultimately sidestepping the question with a diplomatic smile.

The evening blended tradition, diplomacy and subtle cultural gestures, with Kate’s outfit emerging as one of the standout highlights.
