Prithvi Shaw heartbreak in IPL 2026 mini-auction turns into glory: Prithvi Shaw had posted a heartbreak emoticon on his Instagram story soon after going unsold twice in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, but when Delhi Capitals added him for Rs 75 lakh, the 26-year-old had to delete the Insta story.

The base price of Prithvi Shaw was Rs 75 lakh. His name came up in the accelerated auction of unsold players. However, once again during the day no one bought them. After this Shaw posted a story on his Instagram account, in which he said ‘It’s OK’ wrote. Along with this, Shaw also added a heartbreak emoji. Even before this, Prithvi Shaw was not included by any team. However, after some time, Delhi Capitals included Shaw in their team.

After some time, his name came up for the third time at the end of the auction. Eventually, Delhi Capitals included him in their team for a base price of Rs 75 lakh. Shaw deleted his previous post within six minutes and replaced it with a picture of himself taking a selfie with Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel. Prithvi Shaw titled this new post with a heart emoji – “Back to my family.”

Made debut for India in 2018

26-year-old Prithvi Shaw has played 5 Tests and 6 ODIs for India since making his debut against West Indies in October 2018. On July 25, 2021, he played a T20 match for India, after which he did not get a chance in any international match again. Prithvi Shaw scored 339 runs for India in 5 Test matches with 1 century and 2 half-centuries, while he scored 189 runs in 6 ODI matches. Shaw could not open his account in the only T20 match of his career.

Played 79 matches for Delhi Capitals

Prithvi Shaw has played IPL only for Delhi Capitals since 2018. He scored 1,892 runs in 79 matches at an average of 23.94. During this period, 14 half-centuries came from Shaw’s bat. The right-handed batsman scored 479 runs in IPL 2021 at an average of 31.93, which included 4 half-centuries.
