Priyanka Chopra, Guneet Monga backed Anuja gets nominated for Oscars 2025

The Priyanka Chopra and Guneet Monga-backed film Anuja has been nominated for the Academy Awards 2025. The film, directed by Adam J. Graves, got nominated in the category of Best Live Action Short Film. This marks the first Academy Award nomination for Adam and producer Suchitra Mattai, and the third nomination for Guneet after The Elephant Whisperers and Period: End of Sentenceboth of which also won the award.

Speaking about the recognition, Priyanka Chopra said in a statement, “Anuja being nominated for an Oscar in the Best Live Action Short Film category is such an incredible moment. This film is a beautiful reminder of the power of storytelling—how it can shine a light on love, family, and resilience in the most authentic way. I’m so proud of Adam J. Anuja has the backing of a big team of producers including, Suchitra Mattai, Mindy Kaling, Guneet Monga Kapoor, Krushan Naik, Aaron Kopp, Devananda Graves, Michael Graves, Ksheetij Saini and Alexandra Blaney. Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Anita Bhatia are on board as Executive Producers.

The film tells the story of Anuja, a teenager who works in a garment factory in Delhi and how she takes up the responsibility of her family. It will be released soon on Netflix.
