He recalled a special incident when, despite signing the contract, he was dropped from the film ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’. According to Priyanka, her co-star told her that the director had made a “mistake” by casting her in the film, as the role was to be given to another actress. She was surprised to hear this. She told that she was thinking that her co-star had come to encourage her, because the shooting of her next film was about to begin. But the purpose of the meeting turned out to be something else.

The director gave you this film by mistake

Priyanka told that the actor told her, “The director gave you this film by mistake. This role was supposed to go to someone else. We will work together in the future, don’t worry. I just came to tell you this.” After this he had his meal and left from there. At that time Priyanka was only 22 years old and that film was very important for her. He was heartbroken when the film suddenly went out of control. She said that even though she had duly signed the contract, she could not do anything. He also told that this happened not once, but many times. Although by then she had worked in some successful films and was making her mark in the industry, but these incidents at such a young age forced her to rethink her career. She admitted that she was once indecisive about her future, but ultimately decided to focus on her art. He believes that this decision proved beneficial for him in the future and he continuously got new opportunities.

Started career with film ‘Andaz’

Priyanka started her acting career with the 2003 film ‘Andaz’, in which she starred Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta. At that time, many new actors were coming into the industry who belonged to film families. When he was questioned on nepotism, he said that at that time he did not even know the meaning of this word properly. He believed that every parent wants a better future for their children, as his parents also did for him.

Removed from lead role multiple times

He also recalled that many times he was cast in the lead role, but later suddenly someone else was chosen and he was given another role or he was thrown out completely. These experiences definitely shook him, but also made him realize that whether or not someone has personal connections in the industry sometimes proves to be decisive. Priyanka has not worked in Indian films after ‘The Sky is Pink’ released in 2019. She will now be seen in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film ‘Varanasi’, which is scheduled to release in 2027.
