Entry of third member of Gandhi family in Parliament tomorrow, Priyanka and Ravindra Vasantrao will take oath in Lok Sabha.
New Delhi: Two new members are about to enter Parliament. As the 11th member of the Nehru-Gandhi family, Priyanka Gandhi and Ravindra Vasantrao Chavan will take oath as MPs in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. In the recently held by-election, Priyanka Gandhi has won from Wayanad Lok Sabha. Whereas Ravindra Vasantrao Chavan has won the Nanded Lok Sabha elections of Maharashtra.
It is noteworthy that Priyanka Gandhi will become the third member of the Gandhi family to enter Parliament. Ravindra Vasantrao Chavan of Congress won the by-election from Nanded Lok Sabha seat by 5,86,788 votes. The seat had fallen vacant after the demise of sitting Congress MP Vasantrao Balwantrao Chavan, necessitating the by-election.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra won the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat by defeating Satyan Mokeri of Communist Party of India (CPI) by a margin of 4,10,931 votes. Wayanad, the Congress stronghold, saw a triangular contest between Priyanka Gandhi, BJP's Navya Haridas and CPI's Satyan Mokeri. Priyanka Gandhi had contested the Wayanad seat as a United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate. The seat was vacated by his brother Rahul Gandhi, who earlier represented Wayanad but moved to Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh after being elected to the Lok Sabha from there during this year's general elections. On Wednesday, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi expressed her happiness after receiving her election certificate, calling it a symbol of love, trust and commitment to shared values.
Priyanka said on social media that my colleagues from Wayanad brought my election certificate today. To me, it is not just a document. It symbolizes your love, trust and the values to which we are committed. Thank you Wayanad for choosing me to lead this journey of creating a better future for you.
After her victory in Wayanad on November 23, Priyanka Gandhi thanked voters for their support. He said on X, “I am very grateful to you for the trust you have shown in me. I will make sure that over time, you truly feel that this win is your win and that the person you have chosen to represent you understands your hopes and dreams and fights for you.
He said that I am eager to become your voice in the Parliament. Meanwhile, Hemant Soren will take oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on November 28, following the majority victory of the JMM-led alliance in the assembly elections. This is the first time in the history of Jharkhand that an existing government has returned to power after completing five years of its tenure.(With agency inputs)
