Priyanka Gandhi took oath as Lok Sabha member news in Hindi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi took oath as Lok Sabha member today. He has been elected MP from Wayanad seat of Kerala. Priyanka Gandhi has registered a big victory from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat of Kerala. This seat became vacant after Rahul Gandhi's departure. After which the party fielded Priyanka Gandhi here. Priyanka also used her full strength to win here.
On Wednesday, Kerala Congress leaders handed over the victory certificate to Priyanka. In Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi got 6 lakh 22 thousand 338 votes, while CPI candidate Satyam Mokeri stood second with 2 lakh 11407 votes. BJP stood third on this seat. BJP candidate Navya Haridas got 1 lakh 99939 votes.
Priyanka took oath in Hindi language and during this she was holding a copy of the Constitution in her hand. When she stood up to take oath, Congress MPs raised slogans of 'Jodo-Jodo, Bharat Jodo'.
Congress leader Ravindra Basantrao Chavan, who was elected Lok Sabha member from Nanded in Maharashtra, also took the oath of membership of the House. He took oath in Marathi language. The by-election was held in Nanded due to the death of Chavan's father Basantrao Chavan.
After taking oath, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra greeted Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla with folded hands.
She greeted the opposition leaders sitting in the front row with folded hands and the Leader of the Opposition in the House and her brother Rahul Gandhi also accepted Priyanka's greeting with folded hands. After the oath, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi congratulated Priyanka and hugged her.
On the occasion of the swearing-in of the Congress General Secretary, his mother and party parliamentary party chief Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi's husband Robert Vadra, son Rehaan Rajiv Vadra, daughter Miraya Vadra, Congress Rajya Sabha member Rajiv Shukla and some party leaders. Other leaders were present in the audience gallery of the House.
Rahul Gandhi had won from Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh and Wayanad in Kerala in this year's Lok Sabha elections. He left the Wayanad seat following which by-elections were held here.
This is the first time that there are three members of the Gandhi-Nehru family in Parliament. Priyanka's brother Rahul Gandhi is the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and her mother Sonia Gandhi is a member of the Rajya Sabha.
Priyanka won the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election by a margin of more than four lakh votes. She has become a member of any House for the first time. She entered active politics before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and since then has been serving as the party general secretary.
