Producer Hits Back After Salman Khan Issues Legal Notice To ‘Kala Hiran’ Makers
Mumbai: The producer of ‘Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy’, a film reportedly inspired by Salman Khan’s blackbuck hunting case, have refused to give in to intimidation after the actor’s legal team issued a notice to casting director Akshay Pandey.
The notice, dated April 24, 2026, seeks immediate halt to the film’s development and promotional activities, News18 reported.
The project is helmed by Bharat Srinate and bankrolled by Amit Jani.
The legal notice states that the film could interfere with the ongoing judicial proceedings in the blackbuck case, which is currently pending before the Rajasthan High Court.
Salman’s lawyers have argued that any dramatised or sensational depiction of the matter may create prejudice against the actor and affect his right to a fair trial.
“The intent of these notices is to instill fear so that people yield to his influence. It’s his tendency to intimidate. I, however, do not easily succumb to intimidation. He may think I’m finished. Let him know I’m very much here,” producer Jani wrote on Facebook.
The notice claims that Salman’s team became aware of the project after Akshay allegedly approached actors and circulated materials related to the film, including character sketches and a synopsis reportedly referencing the case.
It maintains that the actor neither authorised nor consented to the use of his name, image, or events allegedly associated with him.
The actor’s legal representatives have also accused the makers of violating his personality and publicity rights by allegedly drawing references to him and using his public image to promote the project.
The notice claims the filmmakers are attempting to benefit from the actor’s fame and goodwill while creating an implied connection between Salman and the film.
In addition, the notice describes the project as defamatory, alleging that it contains false and misleading portrayals capable of damaging Salman’s reputation and professional standing.
The makers have also been accused of generating controversy at the expense of the actor’s image.
Through the notice, the actor’s legal team has demanded an immediate stop to all development, production, and publicity activities linked to Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy.
It has also sought an unconditional written apology and warned that failure to comply within 24 hours may invite civil and criminal legal action, including claims for damages and compensation.
