Protest by students in Pakistan, change in examination center and incident of shop demolition

Khar: Students in Khar tehsil of Pakistan protested against local authorities over sudden administrative decisions and alleged misconduct. Students protested after the sudden relocation of the examination center in the middle of their matriculation examinations, leading to anger and frustration among the students. According to Dawn report, students of Alfalfa Public School and Wisdom Public School blocked the Khar-Nawagai Road after their examination center was shifted from Government High School Tang Khata to a remote location without any prior notice.

The protesting students said that the decision was taken due to internal differences between the education department officials and the school administration. He criticized the officials and termed it as negligence towards students’ interests and wrong planning. The students demanded strict action against the responsible officials. The protest ended after the intervention of local elders and the police, who assured the students that their concerns would be escalated to higher authorities.

In a separate incident, students of Government High School Kootki Chamang also protested and blocked Tangi-Chamang Road. The students alleged that an invigilator behaved abusively and inappropriately at their examination centre. Police officials assured the students that such behavior would not be allowed to happen again.

Meanwhile, tensions also arose in Loi Sam market, where authorities demolished several shops built on state-owned land. The administration said shopkeepers were previously warned to voluntarily remove their structures, but when they did not comply, action was taken to reclaim public property. However, the affected shopkeepers contested these claims, saying that they had legitimate ownership of the land and alleged that these shops were demolished without proper notice, calling the administration’s action unjust and sudden.
