Protest outside Delhi High Court against the release of Kuldeep Sengar, rape victim’s mother said – the culprit should be hanged.

New Delhi, 26 December. People demonstrated outside the court premises on Friday against the Delhi High Court’s decision to grant conditional bail to former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, convicted in the Unnao rape case. The protesters strongly condemned the decision and demanded justice. Meanwhile, the victim’s mother expressed deep grief over the High Court’s decision and talked about going to the Supreme Court.

‘If we do not get justice even in the Supreme Court, we will go to another country’

The victim’s mother said, ‘Sengar’s bail should be cancelled, we will knock on the doors of the Supreme Court. We have lost faith in the High Court, if we do not get justice even in the Supreme Court, we will go to another country, the person who murdered my husband should be hanged immediately.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Mumtaz Patel called the High Court’s decision a big blow. He said, ‘It is a big shock, the way the High Court gave a free hand to Sengar on technical grounds. This is setting a very wrong example in the country and will break the confidence of not only the victim’s family but also the women of the entire country.

Women’s rights activist Yogita Bhayana said, ‘Today we have peacefully come to the High Court so that the injustice done to our daughter should be withdrawn and our petition should be heard. If justice is not given then we will protest, this is our right…’ The protesters appealed to the High Court to cancel Sengar’s bail.

It is noteworthy that Sengar was convicted in the Unnao rape case of 2017. The High Court recently granted him bail with certain conditions, after which there was anger among the victim’s side and women’s organizations. The victim’s side is preparing to approach the Supreme Court in the case. The protest was peaceful, but people were deeply concerned about not getting justice.
