PSG wins FIFA Intercontinental Cup title, defeats Flamengo in penalty shootout

In the final match played on Wednesday at the Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, Paris Saint-Germain won the FIFA Intercontinental Cup by defeating Flamengo 2-1 in the penalty shootout that started after the score remained 1-1 after extra time. This was their sixth major trophy won this year. Before this, they have won the titles of Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Trophy des Champions, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup.

Khvicha Kvaratskheliya scored the first goal for PSG to give his team the lead in the 38th minute. After the break, Flamengo counter-attacked and Jorginho converted a penalty in the 62nd minute to equalize for the Copa Libertadores champions. During this, both created chances but they failed to score goals. PSG came close to scoring late in normal time, but were stopped by Flamengo goalkeeper Augustin Rossi. After this, both the teams could not score goals even in the extra time. Then in the shootout, PSG won the title match by winning 2-1 over Flamengo.
