PSL 2026: Match 18 of the Pakistan Super League 2026 between Quetta Gladiators and Rawalpindiz turned dramatic when Daryl Mitchell’s actions at the crease led to a brief on-field standoff. During the ninth over of Rawalpindiz’s innings, Mitchell stepped away twice while Usman Tariq was in the middle of his paused bowling action. This forced Tariq to restart both times, and by the second instance, the umpires had to step in.
Usman Tariq’s unusual bowling action
After a short exchange involving players from both teams and the officials, Mitchell was instructed to carry on batting. The situation settled quickly, and the match continued without further interruptions.
Usman Tariq has previously explained that his unique action, including the pause, is due to a double-jointed elbow that affects his movement. His bowling style has been under scrutiny before as well, notably during Pakistan’s home series against Australia ahead of the T20 World Cup, when Cameron Green reacted with a chucking gesture after being dismissed by him.
