PSL Controversy: ‘I am the culprit, not Shaheen…’ Sikandar Raza said on violation of security rules
Actually, a letter was sent by Punjab Police to PSL Chief Executive Salman Naseer, which later went viral on social media. The letter alleged that Raza and Shaheen had forcibly taken some unauthorized people to Raza’s room in the hotel in violation of security rules. But Raza rejected these allegations outright.
It was my fault, not Shaheen’s: Raza
Sikandar Raza said, ‘Shaheen did not force anyone. My friends and family had come to meet me and on my request Shaheen helped them come up. If it was against the rules, I wasn’t aware of it. The fault is mine, not Shaheen’s.
‘I had invited old friends to meet’
Raza told that the people he met were his friends of about 19 years. He said that he was not able to meet his family and relatives throughout the year, so when they came to visit, he decided to meet in the room itself. According to Raza, they stayed in the room for about 40 minutes while the police letter claims that the meeting lasted for about three hours.
In this case, sources of Lahore Qalandars have also confirmed the developments, but they termed the allegation of forced entry as false. He says that there was no coercion, rather it was a normal meeting.
Pakistan Cricket Board has also taken this matter seriously. PCB media head Umar Farooq said that the board is aware of the incident and is in constant touch with PSL officials. However, no official statement has been issued yet by Pakistan Cricket Board or Pakistan Super League.
In its official letter, the police have demanded the PSL administration to take strict action, so that such incidents do not happen again in future. At present this matter is under investigation and a major decision can be taken in the coming days.
