PSL growth story continues as PCB sees massive interest in new teams
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has extended the deadline for submitting bids for the sale of new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises to December 24, pushing it back from the original date of December 20. The deadline had already been extended twice, and the latest update suggests a strong and encouraging response from prospective owners.
Overwhelming global interest in PSL expansion

According to a report by asports.tv, as many as 12 interested parties have submitted bids to acquire the two new franchises proposed for the league.
Confirming the development in an official press release, the PCB said:
“The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced an exceptional and encouraging response to the tender issued for the sale of two new franchises of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Within the stipulated deadline, 12 parties have formally submitted their bids.”
The board further highlighted the global reach of the interest, noting that bidders are spread across five continents, including the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Pakistan — underlining the PSL’s growing international appeal and commercial value.
The results of the bidding process are expected to be announced on December 27, while the final selection of franchise owners will be determined through an open competitive bidding event scheduled for January 8 at the Islamabad Convention Centre.
Launched in 2016 with five teams, the PSL expanded to six franchises in 2018 with the addition of Multan Sultans. The upcoming season of the tournament is slated to begin on March 26 and conclude on May 3, directly overlapping with the Indian Premier League (IPL).
