PSL will compete with IPL again, PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi made a big announcement
PSL Will Clash With IPL 2026 Again: The schedule of Pakistan Super League is going to clash with IPL once again. Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 is set to clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the second consecutive season. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman and the country’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed on Monday (December 15) that the 11th edition of the league will be played from March 26 to May 3.
IPL usually starts from the last week of March and continues till the end of May. Naqvi said the PCB was ready to adjust the national team’s schedule, including reconsidering the March-April tour of Bangladesh. During this tour, Pakistan has to play two Tests, three ODIs and three T20 Internationals.
There was a conflict in the last season of IPL also
The previous season of the PSL also took place in the same March-May window. The first nine editions were usually played in February and March, but the dates had to be changed due to Pakistan and UAE hosting the Champions Trophy in 2025. Next year the ICC T20 World Cup is going to be held in India and Sri Lanka in February-March.
The auction for the two new teams will be held on January 8. Naqvi also informed that the PCB is preparing for PSL 2026 keeping in mind the league dates and the national team schedule.
Why are some players choosing PSL instead of IPL?
Due to conflict of PSL with IPL, many players are giving preference to PSL instead of IPL. At the same time, those players are preferring to play PSL, who perhaps now feel that they will not find a buyer in IPL. Those players are moving to PSL.

However, PSL gives a chance to those players who remain unsold in IPL. The IPL 2026 auction will feature 359 players, but only 77 slots are available. Apart from this, some players like Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali and Glenn Maxwell will give preference to PSL after not registering in IPL.
Former England all-rounder David Willey believes that due to the small scale of the PSL, it gives guaranteed game time and security to the players, whereas due to the tough competition in the IPL, players can remain on the bench for weeks.
