PSLVC62: ISRO’s dream of country’s border security satellite shattered; Ambush, mission failed due to ‘that’ technical failure in the third stage
- A shock to the campaign
- Obstruction in the third stage
- Loss of payloads
ISRO PSLV C62 mission fail new : Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO)ISROToday was a very important day for ). The whole country hoped that the new year would begin with a great success. The PSLV C-62 rocket lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota at 10:17 am. However, within just a few minutes, happiness turned into worry. ISRO has explained that the mission failed due to a last-minute technical failure in the third stage of the rocket.
What exactly happened? Those thrilling minutes of launch
The rocket took off from the first launch pad at 10:17:30 am on Monday. The first two phases were very smooth. All the parameters were declared correct by the ISRO control room. However, when the rocket reached the final stage of the third stage, the engine developed some technical fault. As a result, the satellite could not achieve the required speed and direction and the mission could not be completed.

DRDO’s ‘exploration’ and inclusion of 14 payloads
The main payload in this mission was the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) EOS-N1 (exploration) satellite. It was a hyperspectral earth observation satellite, which was considered very important for protecting India’s borders. ‘Exploration’ was to be revolutionary for finding hidden enemy locations, monitoring forests and studying environmental changes. Besides, the rocket also carried 14 small satellites from the US and other countries through NewSpace India Limited (NSIL).

There was a big support for border security
The failure of the EOS-N1 satellite has dealt a major blow to the Indian defense sector. The satellite was designed to closely monitor cross-border movements. Hyperspectral imaging technology in particular would have made it easier to detect enemy hidden weapons or bases. It was supposed to be a strong comeback of PSLV after a failure in 2025, but unfortunately the mission did not succeed.

ISRO will take Phoenix flight again!
Such technological hurdles are not new to space missions. ISRO scientists are now probing the cause of the failure. A ‘Failure Analysis Committee’ (FAC) has been set up to find out what exactly went wrong in the third stage of the rocket. Even before, ISRO has scaled the heights of great success after many failures. Therefore, it is believed that after recovering from this setback, ISRO will soon leap into space again with renewed vigour.
