Public knows everything, elects only those who work… Big victory of AAP government in fair and transparent Gram Panchayat elections in Punjab.

Punjab:The recently concluded Gram Panchayat elections in Punjab have given important signals in the politics of the state. In these elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demonstrated its strong hold in rural areas by performing remarkably. In the Sarpanch elections held in 580 villages, AAP supported candidates won 261 seats, which is about 45 percent of the total seats.

This result is being considered as the result of the effective policies and development works of the Bhagwant Mann government at the grassroots level. AAP’s success in these elections, which were conducted with complete fairness and transparency under the supervision of the State Election Commission, is being said to be a sign of increasing public confidence.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed gratitude

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann thanked the people of the state on this victory and said that this is a proof of the public’s trust in the honest and transparent functioning of the government. He said that when elections are conducted in a fair manner, the public gives their verdict clearly. The Chief Minister also said that the benefits of the reforms made in the last three years in basic facilities like education, health, electricity, water and roads are now reaching the villages, which has strengthened the party’s support base in rural areas.

AAP’s lead visible in figures

According to the Election Commission data, in these elections held in 580 villages, the number of candidates supported by AAP was the highest among the candidates who won by a margin of more than 100 votes. On 319 seats, AAP-backed candidates defeated their nearest rivals by huge margins. Political analysts believe that this victory is not limited only to the number of seats, but also shows the strength of the party in the victory margin. Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal had to face relatively weak results in these elections.

Impact of welfare schemes visible

Government schemes implemented in rural areas are also being considered a major reason for this success. Rural families have got relief by getting up to 300 units of free electricity under the Free Electricity Scheme. Apart from this, the government’s active efforts in improving mohalla clinics, government schools and providing timely crop prices to farmers have impressed the voters. In many districts, villages have got direct benefits of works like road construction, drinking water system and cleaning of canals.

Voting remained peaceful and fair

According to sources in the Rural Development Department, the voting percentage in these elections was satisfactory and in many places it was recorded more than 70 percent. The elections were conducted peacefully, in which the administration and police played an important role. The pace of development at the local level has accelerated due to the government’s decisions to give more powers and funds to Panchayats. This year, more budget has been allocated to Panchayats for development works than before.

Morale boosting victory before 2027

Political experts say that this result will prove to be a big morale booster for the AAP government before the 2027 assembly elections. The party may benefit from its strong hold in rural areas in future elections. The opposition may have tried to link these results to local issues, but at the grassroots level the public has supported the work of the government.

Response of sarpanches and villagers

Local residents and newly elected sarpanches have also appreciated the policies of the government. A sarpanch of Sangrur district said that development work has taken place at a rapid pace in the villages and the panchayats have now got more powers. The Sarpanch of a village in Jalandhar said that free electricity and better health facilities have brought great relief to poor families. Farmers have also praised the role of the government in timely procurement of crops and payment on MSP.

AAP state president’s statement

Describing this victory as historic, the AAP state president said that this is not just an electoral success but also a proof of living up to the expectations of the people. He said that the aim of the party is to give a new direction to development in every village and every city. The party has assured that work will be done with the winning Sarpanches for the overall development of the villages.

This victory of Aam Aadmi Party in the Gram Panchayat elections in Punjab not only shows the popularity of the government, but also strengthens the public’s faith in the fair and transparent election process. The victory on 261 seats and the success on 319 seats by a huge margin makes it clear that the people support the government which works in the public interest.
