Is it better to burn lamp or incense sticks?
During puja, we use both lamps and incense sticks with devotion. But according to religious beliefs, lighting a lamp is considered auspicious. The reason for this is that ghee or oil is used in the lamp, which activates positive energy. Whereas incense sticks are made of bamboo wood and burning bamboo is not considered auspicious in Hindu religion. Therefore, lighting a lamp instead of incense sticks is considered more auspicious.
Burning incense sticks is inauspicious due to these reasons
- The rules related to worship have been explained in detail in the scriptures. But there is no mention anywhere about worshiping by lighting incense sticks.
- Incense sticks are made of bamboo. Burning bamboo is inauspicious in Hindu religion. It is believed that due to this one may face financial crisis at home. That's why experts recommend lighting lamps instead of incense sticks.
- There is also a belief that burning bamboo hinders the growth of descendants and causes Pitra Dosh. That is why people do not burn incense sticks made of bamboo in puja.
- In Hindu religion, at the time of funeral, the dead body is taken to the crematorium on a bier, which is made of bamboo. But before cremation, the body is removed from the bier and burnt with wood. Burning bamboo is not auspicious from any point of view in Hindu religion.
- In Hindu religion, there is a tradition of worshiping bamboo during auspicious functions like wedding, sacred thread, mundan rites etc. and in marriages, pavilions are also made from bamboo. Therefore, from the religious point of view, burning incense sticks made of bamboo is inauspicious.
