Hamza Burhan, who was the mastermind of the Pulwama attack and counted among Pakistan’s most wanted terrorists, was shot dead in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). This incident took place in Muzaffarabad, where unknown assailants opened fire on Hamza. He died on the spot due to multiple bullet injuries. After this incident, the turmoil between the terrorist network and security agencies has intensified.
The real name of the deceased terrorist has been revealed to be Arjmand Gulzar Dar alias Doctor. He was the top commander of the terrorist organization Al-Badr and was involved in anti-India activities for a long time. According to security agencies, he was playing an active role in radicalizing the youth in South Kashmir and recruiting them into terrorist organizations.
According to sources, the accused who attacked Hamza was caught by the local people and later handed over to the police. However, no official information has been revealed yet regarding the identity of the attacker and the reason behind the murder. Local administration and security agencies have started investigating the matter.
It is said that Arjmand Gulzar was originally a resident of Ratnipora area of Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. About seven years ago, he had gone to Pakistan through valid documents, where he joined the terrorist organization Al-Badr. Gradually he became the chief operational commander of the organization and sitting in Pakistan, he started recruiting terrorists, supplying weapons and operating the funding network in Kashmir.
The Home Ministry of the Government of India had officially declared him a terrorist in the year 2022. Security agencies had kept him on the most wanted list for a long time. He was facing serious allegations of promoting terrorism, misleading the youth to join terrorist organizations and carrying out violent activities in the valley.
According to security agencies, Hamza Burhan was part of a social media-based radicalization model. He used to influence the youth through digital platforms and inspire them to take up arms. Its strong network was said to be active in Pulwama, Shopian and Awantipora areas. He used to deliver weapons, funding and terrorist instructions through overground workers (OGWs).
According to investigating agencies, his name had also cropped up in several grenade attacks, explosive recovery and terrorist recruitment cases. Pulwama area has been a sensitive center of terrorist activities for a long time and many big terrorist faces have come forward here before.
Security agencies are viewing the death of Hamza Burhan as a major incident. However, official confirmation is still awaited as to who are the people behind this murder and what are the reasons behind it. At present, this incident has given rise to new discussions regarding the internal movements going on within the terrorist organizations operating in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
