Pumpkin Puri Recipe: Many people do not like pumpkin curry at all because it has a slight sweetness, so its curry does not taste that good. If you are also one of those people who make faces at the sight of this vegetable, then you should try Pumpkin Puri once. It is really very tasty and has a mild sweet-salty taste. Material
Pumpkin-1 cup (boiled and mashed)
Wheat flour-2 cups
Semolina – 1–2 tbsp (to make crispy)
Celery-1 tsp
Turmeric-½ tsp
Red chilli powder-½ tsp
Garam masala-½ tsp
Sugar-1 tsp
Salt – as per taste
Oil-1 tbsp (for moyan)
Oil (for deep frying)
Method
- Peel the pumpkin and cut it into small pieces. Boil it or steam it. Mash it well after it cools down.
- In a big vessel, add flour, semolina, celery, turmeric, red chilli, garam masala, salt and sugar. Now add mashed pumpkin and 1 teaspoon oil in it. Mix everything well and knead a stiff dough. (Add a little water if needed, but not too much.)
- Make small balls of the dough. Roll them into medium sized puris.
- Heat oil in a pan. When the oil is well heated, add the puris one by one. Fry on medium flame until golden and puffed on both sides. Take it out on paper.
- Serve hot pumpkin puri with cold shrikhand, potato curry or pickle. This is a great option for festivals, post-fast meals or special breakfasts.
tips
- If you want lightly sweet puri then you can add some more sugar.
- You can also add some gram flour to make the puri more crispy.
- The pumpkin water should drain completely, otherwise the dough will become loose.
