Pune Infrastructure : Good news for Puneers; 3 subway lines approved to ease congestion on NH-48

Pune Infrastructure | There is now a ray of hope for the lakhs of motorists stuck in traffic jams for hours on Mumbai-Bangalore National Highway. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has given the green light for the construction of three new box-structure subways on NH-48. Therefore, the citizens of Tathwade, Punawale, Wakad, Kiwale and Mamurdi areas will get a big relief.

This decision was taken in an important meeting held in Pune. The western part of Pimpri-Chinchwad has seen rapid urbanization in the last few years. Due to IT parks, housing projects and growing population, the traffic on NH-48 has increased tremendously. Therefore, long queues of vehicles in the morning and evening had become a daily problem. In this background, along with the new three subways, widening of the existing subways at Tathawade and Punavle has also been approved. Also, instructions have been given to complete the pending service road works in Wakad, Tathawade and Punawale areas immediately.

In this regard, Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap said that several measures have been proposed to remove the traffic congestion in Sayaji, Bhumkar Chowk, Kivale Junction, Pavana Nadi Marg and Mamurdi areas. The projects are now likely to gain momentum as the central government has directed to give high priority to all these works. Pune Infrastructure

Interestingly, this entire stretch is considered to be one of the busiest stretches on the Mumbai-Bangalore highway. Both local traffic and heavy goods traffic are stressed on this road. Hence, the completion of new subways and extended service roads will significantly reduce travel time, making daily commutes faster and safer for thousands of citizens.
