Pune News | 2026 will be special for the people of Pune! Another metro route will be launched in the month of March

Pune News : The month of March this year is going to be a great joy for the people of Pune. Hinjewadi – Shivajinagar (Metro 3) metro route will be started by the end of March. Its work has now gained a lot of momentum. A successful technical test was also conducted on this route on Thursday morning. The aim is to start passenger services on these routes by next March.

How was the trial?

The test was conducted on these routes between Man Depot and Pune Vidyapeeth Chowk. This phase is considered very important for the metro project. Earlier trials were conducted between Man Depot to Pune University in July 2025 and between Man Depot to Balewadi Sports Complex in August 2025. A few days ago, technical problems were encountered in the test, but with the help of the Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO), they were quickly rectified.

First project in Pune to be developed on PPP basis

During the test, safety and technical systems were thoroughly checked. Track quality, power supply, emergency braking system, stability of coaches etc. were checked. The 23.3 km metro project is being completed on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis. This is being done through PMRDA, Tata Group, Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited. This will reduce traffic congestion in Vidyapeeth Chowk, Ganeshkhind road, Hinjewadi area.

Commissioner gave great information

According to PMRDA Commissioner Yogesh Mhse, the work of the project is in the final stage and most of the stations have been completed. So far more than 10 trainsets have been received and soon total 22 trainsets will be available. Efforts are underway to complete this project in time and put it in the service of Pune residents through the coordination of all the systems.
