Why Would This Happen?
They will have to take it seriously and pay the fines within 30 days of receiving notice or risk otherwise be ready to lose their driving licence and also need to face court proceedings.
It has already commenced as the city traffic branch has started sending official notices to defaulters starting Wednesday. The action is happening due to a massive number of traffic fines remaining unpaid across the city, said the Officials, adding now they are cracking down hard.
It appears that several motorists ignore e-challan penalties after violations which results in hurting road safety and enforcement efforts. In order to force compliance, now the city traffic branch has started sending official notices.
The Additional Commissioner Manoj Patil is leading this interview as he hopes to create better road discipline across Pune. Initially this initiative targeted owners with long-overdue fines for sending notices.
What Happens If The Fines Are Not Paid In 30 Days?
If that happens then the RTO, Pune will suspend the driver’s license and courts will handle legal cases against stubborn defaulters.
“If the fine is not paid within 30 days of the notice, we will forward a proposal to suspend the driving licence to the RTO and initiate judicial proceedings wherever necessary,” Patil said as cooperation saves everyone trouble.
Now coming to sending notices, the Police will send SMS from registered ID ‘MHPECH-G’ to the vehicle owner’s registered mobile number and this drive runs from February 26 to March 1.
Moving ahead, the Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil addressed the issue “We urge citizens to cooperate with the department and clear their pending dues promptly.”
How To Pay This Fine?
In order to pay these fines, the users need to use the official Maharashtra Traffic e-Challan website at
Besides this, they can also use the Pune Traffic Police mobile app or visit the nearest traffic division offices for in-person payments.
Please note that these offices accept QR code, debit card, or credit card as all these payment methods stay secure and quick.
This campaign is already running from February 26 through March 1 and the vehicle owners get 30 days from receipt date after that.
The citizens are advised to act fast to avoid license loss as police aim for full compliance soon and we need to remember that the road safety improves with paid fines.
