Punjab News: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann paid homage to the unique martyrdom of Mata Gujri Ji and Chhote Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh Ji by paying obeisance at the historic Gurudwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib here this morning.
Referring to the importance of the days of Martyrdom Day, the Chief Minister said that the entire Punjab celebrates these days as ‘days of mourning’ because during these days, the younger Sahibzadas were killed alive in the wall by the cruel rulers. He said that the whole world is proud of this unique and unmatched sacrifice. This is a unique example not only for Punjabis or countrymen, but for everyone living across the world. The Chief Minister said that during the Shaheedi Sabha, about 50 lakh devotees will reach Fatehgarh Sahib and receive the blessings of Guru Ghar.
Talking to reporters after paying obeisance at the Gurudwara, the Chief Minister said that these great martyrdoms are unmatched in the history of humanity and will continue to inspire the coming generations to fight against injustice, oppression and tyranny. He said that every inch of land in this area is sacred, that is why a large number of people come to pay obeisance at this holy place. The Chief Minister said that this holy land is a source of inspiration not only for Sikhs but for the entire humanity.
Referring to the great martyrdom of Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, the Chief Minister said that this unique sacrifice of the younger Sahibzadas to protect the human right to practice religion according to conscience is unmatched in human history. He said that in Sikh history this martyrdom is called ‘the great savior of small lives’. Even though more than three centuries have passed since this incident occurred, its pain is still deeply felt by the entire Sikh community.
The Chief Minister said that he has prayed to God to further strengthen the spirit of Chaddi art, goodwill, peace and brotherhood of Punjab. He said that he considers himself fortunate that Akal Purush has given him the opportunity to serve the state.

Giving information about the arrangements made for lakhs of devotees coming from all over the world, the Chief Minister said that all other arrangements including health facilities, transportation, cleanliness, security arrangements for the Sangat have been made on a large scale, so that no devotee faces any difficulty. He said that it is the first duty of the government to make arrangements for the Sangat on the occasion of Shaheedi Sabha and no stone will be left unturned in this noble cause.

The Chief Minister further said that this year the 350th martyrdom day of the ninth Patshah Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is also being celebrated with full devotion and respect. He said that on the occasion of martyrdom day of Guru Sahib in the month of November, it was announced to give the status of holy city to three cities associated with Takht Sahibans of Sikhs from the holy land of Sri Anandpur Sahib. He said that this decision has been implemented by issuing a notification to declare the inner area (Walled City) of Amritsar city, Talwandi Sabo and Sri Anandpur Sahib as holy cities. This has fulfilled the long standing demand of the Sikhs settled all over the world.

On the controversy over naming the martyrdom day of Chhote Sahibzadas as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’, the Chief Minister said that when the BJP led central government had made this name, the Shiromani Akali Dal had supported it by tweeting, but now it is retreating from it due to opposition from the Sangat. CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The unique martyrdom of Sahibzadas cannot be expressed in words nor can it be linked to any one day. Akali Dal’s retraction from its statements proves that this party is not serious towards religion and heritage.”
