Punjab: Punjab Police will reward anyone who gives information about gangsters, CM Bhagwant Mann launches special policy

Punjab: To crack down on crime and gangster networks, the state government under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has implemented the reward policy. Under this new policy, people who provide reliable information about wanted criminals and gangsters to Punjab Police will be rewarded. The government has also released the list of 28 most wanted criminals.

SSP can give reward up to Rs 1 lakh

Under the ‘Gangsters Te War’ campaign, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Punjab has been given the power to sanction reward up to Rs 1 lakh, Police Commissioner/IG/DIG up to Rs 1.5 lakh and Special DGP/ADGP up to Rs 2 lakh. At the same time, Punjab Police Chief i.e. DGP can also approve an amount of more than two lakhs.

The information will be verified, reward money will be given only after confirmation.

The government says that the objective of this scheme is to increase public participation in controlling crime. The identity of the person giving information will be kept completely confidential. The information will be first verified and if the information is found correct then a reward will be given. Citizens can share information anonymously on the ‘Anti-Gangster Helpline’ at 9394693946.

Punjab Police raided more than 56 thousand places

The policy is expected to further strengthen operations like Operation Prahar. Recently, raids were conducted at more than 56 thousand places across the state, in which 19,894 arrests were made. Apart from this, 851 declared criminals were arrested. Thousands of suspects were also interrogated.

Police made this appeal to citizens

Punjab Police has appealed to the citizens to come forward and help in making the state free from crime. The government has made it clear that action will be taken after investigating every information. The special thing is that the safety of the persons giving information will be ensured.
