Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann claims that people were expecting MSP, farmer loan waiver and special packages, but they were only disappointed. The Chief Minister alleged that the Central Government is continuously favoring Punjab, withholding funds entitled to the State, ignoring the demands of farmers and confiscating them outside the State. No action is being taken against big consignments of drugs, rather Punjab is being defamed.

Talking to the media today on the occasion of Progressive Punjab Investors Conference, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann alleged that the farmers and citizens of Punjab were expecting that concrete decisions would be taken to address their concerns. He claims that the people of Punjab were expecting big announcements like legal guarantee of minimum support price for crops, waiver of agricultural loans and other measures for farmers.

The Chief Minister also criticized the Centre’s blocking of Punjab’s legitimate funds. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Modi government has stopped RDF and GST funds of Punjab and has not yet released flood relief amount of Rs 1,600 crore.” He said that Rs 1,600 crore was spent by the Central Government for flood relief. Despite tall claims, Punjab did not get even Rs 16 from his announcement.

Raising the issue of gangsterism, the Chief Minister alleged that the Central Government has failed to solve this problem at the national level. “The government has given shelter to Punjab’s gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in Gujarat jail and he is not even being allowed to bring him to Punjab.” He described gangsterism as a national issue, which is a serious threat to the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country and criticized the central government for failing to stop it.
