Punjab News: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today met with leading South Korean companies – Daewoo Engineering & Construction, G.S. Engineering and Construction, Nongshim, Korea Defense Industries Association, Seoul Business Agency, and many other companies—were invited to invest in the state. During his visit to South Korea, the Chief Minister met Jang Won Ju, Chairman of Daewoo Engineering & Manufacturing, and sought cooperation in innovative energy projects—sea wind power plants, solar power plants and green hydrogen production. He said there is immense potential for cooperation in energy infrastructure—liquefied natural gas terminals, petrochemical complexes, fertilizer plants—and modern residential and urban development projects, smart city projects, and civil infrastructure related to roads, bridges, rail, ports and airports. The Chief Minister also stressed the need for technology exchange in modern construction techniques of modular and pre-fabricated structures so that faster and economical construction models can be developed.

During the strategic meeting with world renowned infrastructure company Daewoo Engineering & Construction, he shared information about Punjab’s strong industrial momentum, ongoing major efforts to build modern infrastructure and the special joint monitoring framework under the “Invest Punjab” mechanism. He encouraged the global industry group to undertake extensive infrastructure development in Punjab, adopt modern construction technologies and explore the potential in the proposed industrial towns. They also emphasized joint efforts on initiatives that align with global environmental standards—ESG commitments and green hydrogen programs. In the meeting held after this, the Chief Minister G.S. Met with Young Ha Ryu, Vice Chairman of Engineering and Construction. He discussed new energy projects like solar, wind and hydrogen; infrastructure projects like roads, bridges and smart cities; And stressed the need for coordination in the field of industrial complexes and design-purchase-construction (EPC) services. He mentioned the huge potential in areas like modular construction technology and green hydrogen and clean energy and assured all support from the state government.
In the meeting with Nongshim Holdings, the Chief Minister proposed joint work in the food and processed food industry. He highlighted the need to develop new versions of innovative instant noodles to suit Indian tastes, and also discussed expanding their distribution across India’s supermarket chains and e-commerce platforms.
He advocated for partnerships to expand the brand’s reach to millennials and health-conscious consumers, develop eco-friendly packaging solutions with local suppliers, and research on sustainable foods and plant-based alternatives. Speaking to Korea Defense Industries Association (KDIA) Vice Chairman Lee Sung Kyu, the Chief Minister discussed the need for cooperation in defense manufacturing, defence-technology exchanges, advanced military technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics and unmanned systems. He also stressed on the possibilities of creating skilled manpower in the defense manufacturing sector by making joint efforts in cyber security and skill-development programs.
During the meeting with Jong Woo Kim, Director of the Startup Division of Seoul Business Agency, the Chief Minister discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the acceleration and incubation programs of Punjab-based innovative enterprises to give them access to the global market. He called partnerships in startup ecosystem, research-development, innovation-culture and product-validation (like “Seoul Award”) as the need of the hour. During the roundtable meeting on Ease of Doing Business in Punjab held thereafter, the Chief Minister interacted with South Korea’s leading commercial, investment and industrial companies—BKL, Yulchon, Budtree Management Group, S.K. Securities, Kim & Chang, Shin & Kim, Lee & Co, Dentons Lee, Korea International Trade Association, Korea Robot Industry Association, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Organization, Korea Auto-Part Industry Cooperative, Yuanta Securities, Capstone Asset Management, N.H. Investment and Securities, and the Korea Institute of Industrial Economics and Trade—discussed with representatives.

Describing Punjab as the most suitable investment destination, the Chief Minister informed them about the major reform initiatives taken by the state government and also sought suggestions to make industrial development easier. The Chief Minister also visited Panggyo Techno Valley—known as the “Silicon Valley of Korea,” one of the most advanced innovation hubs in Asia. Officials from the Gyeonggido Business and Science Accelerator briefed them about Pangyo’s integrated model, technological innovation, startup culture and system of high-value research. According to him, Pangyo is a world-class innovation zone with more than 1,780 companies, 83,000 professionals and 25,000 researchers. The Chief Minister particularly praised Pangyo’s structured accelerator programs, specialized testing facilities and performance-based assessment methods and said that such models can be adopted in Mohali also to promote startup ecosystem, research-development and skill-based employment. He expressed the need to give comprehensive development to Mohali and make it an innovation centre.
The Chief Minister said that through these expanded opportunities, the Punjab Government has further strengthened its commitment to welcome Korean companies, encourage innovation-led industrial development and strengthen long-term mutual partnerships. He said that Punjab has immense potential for cooperation in many fields including construction, technology, food processing, research and development. The Chief Minister said that this entire program before the Seoul Road-Show “Progressive Punjab Investors Conference-2026” is a major medium to make global investors aware of the rapid economic-industrial opportunities in Punjab.
