Now immediate and free treatment for dog bites in Punjab, anti-rabies vaccination started in 881 common man clinics.

Punjab News: Dog bite incidents have remained a major public health problem in Punjab for years. Every year about three lakh cases are reported in the state. If timely treatment is not provided after a dog bite, there is a risk of a fatal disease like rabies, which is almost 100 percent fatal without treatment. However, this disease can be completely prevented by timely anti-rabies vaccination.

How was your situation till now?

Earlier, anti-rabies vaccine was available only in selected primary health centres. In such a situation, the victims, especially children, elderly people and people who do daily labor, had to go to far-off hospitals. Due to long queues, wastage of time and missed work, many people left the entire five-dose vaccination course midway, putting their lives at risk.

CM Mann made this big change

Now, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the government has made major changes in this system. Anti-rabies vaccination facility has been started in 881 Aam Aadmi clinics established across the state. With this, people are getting immediate and free treatment near their homes.

What is the goal of the government?

Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that the government’s aim is to provide accessible and affordable health services to every citizen. He said that starting ARV services in Aam Aadmi clinics is an important step in the field of public health, which will save thousands of lives.

Aam Aadmi Clinic is the strong backbone of the health system.

Aam Aadmi Clinics have already become the strong backbone of Punjab’s primary health system. About 70 thousand patients come here every day for treatment and now even in dog bite cases, treatment starts within a few minutes. In the last four months, an average of 1,500 patients are reaching these clinics for treatment every month and a large number of people are completing the entire vaccination course.

Special relief to rural areas

This initiative has provided special relief to rural areas and poor families. Now dog bite does not mean fear, expense and delay, but timely and safe treatment. This step of the government is being considered important towards making Punjab a safe and healthy state.
