Punjab Kings beat Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets, Shreyas hit a fifty

In the seventh match of IPL 2026, Punjab Kings performed brilliantly and defeated Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets. At the beginning of the match, Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bowl first, which later proved to be right for the team. Chasing the target of 210 runs, Punjab Kings displayed aggressive batting and achieved the target by losing 5 wickets in 18.4 overs. Punjab batsmen maintained the run pace from the beginning and won the match by maintaining pressure till the end.

Effective performance of Vijaykumar Vaishakh

Talking about bowling, Vijaykumar Vaishakh performed most effectively for Punjab and took 2 wickets. Apart from this, Yuzvend Chahal, Marco Jansen and Xavier Bartlett got one success each.

With this win, Punjab Kings registered their second consecutive win in the tournament, before which they had defeated Gujarat Titans in their first match. On the other hand, this was the second consecutive defeat for Chennai Super Kings, as they had also suffered defeat at the hands of Rajasthan Royals in the previous match.
