The Punjab Kings are set to enter the IPL 2025 mega auction with a purse value of INR 110.50 crore which will allow the franchise to build a team from scratch as they look to win the IPL title for the first time.
The Punjab Team can utilise the Right to Match (RTM) and it potentially allows them to buy quality players at low cost. However, Punjab Kings might look into back some players using RTM cards.
However, Punjab Kings will be likely to use RTM cards for the following players.
- Arshdeep Singh
- Liam Livingstone
- Harshal Patel
- Kagiso Rabada
Arshdeep Singh
To the suprise, PBKS did not retain the star pacer Arshdeep Singh who has been the team’s best bowler for the last three seasons. Punjab shouldn’t miss a chance to go after him through RTM during the auction.
Despite having a plenty of money, they need a quality Indian seamer which should be Arshdeep Singh.
Liam Livingstone
Liam Livingstone’s recent form and all-rounder abilities could be enough for the franchise to use a RTM card on the England cricketer. He joined the side during 2022 auction for a price of INR 11.5 crore and could be better option for RTM if his bid stays within reach.
With a strike rate above 150, he could score quickly, making him a dynamic asset for PBKS’ line up in the IPL 2025 season.
Harshal Patel
Harshal Patel could be an another option for PBKS as he was the best death over specialist during the 2024 season picking 16 wickets. He has been the leading wicket taker in previous season and he might be one reserve for RTM card to use.
Kagiso Rabada
Kagiso Rabada is one of the best fast bowlers in the World across formats and was a key contributor to South Africa’s success in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
He was with Punjab for the last three seasons at the price of INR 9.25 crore and picked 41 wickets in 30 outings. PBKS might use RTM card on Rabada in the mega auction.
Rishabh Pant
To be interesting, Rishabh Pant could be a dream buy for any of the franchise. He could be an asset for any team who buys him being a skillful leaders and talented leader.
If Punjab Kings buys the wk-batter, Pant will be reuniting with Ricky Ponting. His off-field value will give the franchise a boost and to build a strong team.
Additionally, Punjab could go for some prominent spinners like Mohammad Nabi, Piyush Chawla and Shams Mulani. They also lack Indian all-rounders which they could try to cover during the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Punjab Kings have decided to retain only two players from their previous squad. Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh are the PBKS retained players ahead of the mega auction.
The IPL governing council has confirmed that the mega auction will be held in November 24 and 25 at Jeddah. Despite the event being hosted overseas, IPL fans can still enjoy the IPL 2025 auction live streaming from their home.
