Punjab: Major terrorist plot foiled before Republic Day, 6 ISI-backed terrorists arrested
Tarn Taran: Police have achieved significant success in strengthening the security of the state by foiling a major terrorist plot before the Republic Day in Punjab. In a swift action based on intelligence information, Punjab Police has busted two separate terrorist modules linked to the banned terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). During these operations, a total of six terrorists have been arrested, who were preparing for a major attack in the state.
According to senior police officials, the arrested terrorists were planning to spread terror in Punjab before the Republic Day celebrations. His plans were foiled in time. The police have recovered a huge quantity of arms, explosives and ammunition from the accused, which makes it clear that the conspiracy was very serious.
Terrorist arrested from Tarn Taran
In the first operation, the police arrested Sharanpreet Singh, resident of Dinewal village of Tarn Taran district. During the search, one P-86 type hand grenade, 9 mm Glock pistol, five live cartridges and about 65 grams of ice (methamphetamine) drug were recovered from him. Police believe that the accused was involved in carrying out terrorist activities through drugs and weapons.
ISI supported second module revealed
After this, the police busted another big terrorist network, which was supported by Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. This module was active in Hoshiarpur district. Police arrested five other members of BKI from here. A powerful RDX based IED weighing 2.5 kg, two pistols and several cartridges were seized from them.
Identification of arrested terrorists
The accused arrested by the police include Diljot Singh Saini, Harman alias Harry, Ajay alias Mehra and Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Kandhola. Preliminary inquiry has revealed that all of them were working under an organized network and were in contact with terrorists operating from abroad.

Giving information on social media platform He said that this terror module was being run by BKI handlers based in America and the recovered IED was to be used for a targeted attack around Republic Day.
Security agencies on alert
This action has taken place at a time when intelligence agencies had already warned that Pakistan-backed terrorist organizations are planning attacks in India. Even before this, the apprehension of activating sleeper cells in Punjab was raised by organizations like Sikh for Justice (SFJ).
Police has made it clear that to maintain peace and law and order in the state, every network related to terrorism and organized crime will be rooted out. The investigating agencies are now deeply investigating the international contacts and funding networks of these terrorists.
