CM Mann’s historic announcement, 40 lakh families will get free ration under ‘Meri Rasoi Yojana’
Punjab News: To strengthen food and nutrition security in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced ‘Meri Rasoi’ scheme. Under this scheme, 40 lakh families of the state will be given free food kits every quarter from the month of April. The special thing is that these kits will be different from the wheat available under the National Food Security Act.
AAP committed to implementing plans
The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to implementing public welfare schemes with honesty and foresight. He said that it is the moral responsibility of the government to provide nutritious food to every child. In the coming budget also, schemes related to public welfare will be further strengthened keeping in mind the interests of all sections of the society.
Material will be given as per monthly consumption
Under the scheme, every family will be given material according to monthly consumption. Each kit will include two kg pulses, two kg sugar, one kg salt, 200 grams turmeric powder and one liter mustard oil. All these items will be given completely free of cost.
Markfed made nodal agency
The Chief Minister said that Markfed has been made the nodal agency for the operation of this scheme. The kits will be supplied by the Food and Civil Supplies Department. The government has prepared a strong system to make the distribution process transparent and smooth. He said that Punjab has always played an important role in making the country self-reliant in grain production. Now the state government wants to ensure that no family in Punjab suffers from lack of food. This step has been taken especially keeping in mind the economically weaker families.
No compromise on quality of kits
The Chief Minister made it clear that there will be no compromise on the quality of the kits. All food items will be strictly inspected and any complaints will be immediately processed. Starting from April, these kits will be distributed every three months. The government believes that this initiative will provide nutritious food to children and families and will strengthen food security in the state.
