Central government is serious on the problems of farmers, Chief Minister Mann met the Home Minister

Punjab News: Giving great relief to the farmers, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that in the coming times, farmers will be able to do farming on the land in the border area without any problem. On the demand of the Chief Minister, the Central Government has agreed to shift the barbed wire (fencing) installed on the India-Pakistan border towards the border.

Important meeting of Chief Minister with Union Home Minister

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. Many long pending issues related to Punjab were discussed in detail in this meeting. These included topics related to border security, farmers’ problems, water disputes, seed bill, grain storage, rural development fund and Chandigarh administration.

Farmers used to face problems due to barbed wire on the border

The Chief Minister said that at many places in the 532 km long area on the India-Pakistan border, barbed wire is installed deep inside the land of Punjab. Due to this, thousands of acres of cultivable land has gone across the wire. Farmers had to go to the fields under the supervision of BSF every day by showing their identity cards, which caused a lot of trouble to them.

There will be a shift near the barbed wire border

The Chief Minister said that the Union Home Minister has assured that the barbed wire will be removed from the land of Punjab and installed near the international border. With this, the land of the farmers will be safe and they will be able to do farming without any fear and restrictions, and there will be no compromise with the security of the country.

Punjab’s objection to Seed Bill 2025

The Chief Minister expressed serious objection to the proposed Seed Bill 2025. He said that this bill weakens the role of an agricultural state like Punjab. The new bill does not ensure proper participation of Punjab in seed related decisions, which may affect the interests of farmers.

Making farmers dependent on companies is wrong: Chief Minister

The Chief Minister said that allowing sale of foreign seeds without local testing could be dangerous for farmers. He clearly said that it is neither right nor in the interest of the farmers to completely depend on private companies.

Punjab’s clear stand on SYL canal

The Chief Minister reiterated that Punjab does not have surplus water to give to any other state. Water availability in Sutlej, Ravi and Beas rivers has already reduced. In such a situation, construction of Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal is not possible and it is against the interests of Punjab.

Serious problem of grain storage and transportation

The Chief Minister said that the transportation of grains by FCI is happening at a very slow pace. There is a huge shortage of storage in the state in view of the upcoming procurement season. He demanded the Center to run special trains and ensure timely transportation of grains.

Broker commission and delay in payment

The Chief Minister said that the broker commission has been frozen for the last several years, due to which the market system is being affected. He said that middlemen are not agents but provide essential services and they should get their rights.

Rural development fund dues, Punjab’s rights stopped

The Chief Minister said that Rural Development Fund (RDF) and market fees have not been paid by the Central Government. An amount of more than Rs 11,000 crore is pending, due to which the development work of villages is being affected. He clearly said that RDF is not an aid but the right of Punjab.

Punjab’s role is important in Chandigarh administration

The Chief Minister expressed concern over reducing the share of Punjab officials in Chandigarh administration. He said that it is necessary to maintain the old ratio of 60:40, so that administrative balance is maintained.

Central government assured solution

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured to seriously consider all the issues and find a solution soon. He expressed hope that this will soon provide relief to the farmers and general public of Punjab.
