Punjab News: Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on January 16, 2026, District S.A.S. Sada Maan, a senior citizen from Nagar (Mohali), is going to formally launch the state level campaign which aims to ensure the welfare, safety and dignified life of senior citizens.

Giving advance information in public interest, the Punjab government said that the aim of this initiative is to ensure maximum participation of elderly citizens across the state.

The campaign will be implemented under the state action plan

Sharing details of the campaign, Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur said that the main objective of the Saade Elderly, Saada Maan campaign is to connect senior citizens with essential health services, legal awareness and government welfare schemes, so that they can lead a safe and dignified life.

He informed that this campaign is being implemented under the State Action Plan for Senior Citizens for the financial year 2025-26, under which district-level camps will be organized across Punjab to strengthen the overall well-being and social security of the elderly.

Free testing for senior citizens

Explaining the services to be provided under this scheme, the Minister said that during these camps, the Health Department will provide free general health check-up, orthopedic care, ENT services, eye check-up as well as homeopathic and Ayurvedic treatment facilities for senior citizens.

He further informed that the Social Security Department will do on-site enrollment for Social Security Pension, issue Senior Citizen Card and ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India) Card and provide assistance and information related to Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana.

Street drama will be organized

The Cabinet Minister further informed that the State Legal Services Authority will sensitize the elderly citizens about their legal rights including the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, so that they can feel safe and empowered.

He said that yoga sessions and street plays will also be organized to promote health awareness, inter-generational relations and strengthen the sense of social security in collaboration with the Department of AYUSH and Department of Youth Affairs.

Elderly citizens are valuable heritage and guides

Focusing on the special needs of senior citizens, Dr. Baljeet Kaur said that during these camps, essential assistive devices like near vision glasses, hearing aids, walking aids, cervical collars, belts and wheelchairs will be distributed on the spot.

He said that this campaign is not limited to just providing facilities but aims to make our elderly citizens realize that they are not just beneficiaries but the most precious heritage and guides of our society.

Helpline number released

Referring to similar efforts made in previous years, the Minister said that thousands of senior citizens have directly benefited from these camps in the past, which clearly shows the impact of this initiative. He also informed that toll-free helpline number 14567 is also functional for the assistance of elderly citizens.

Quality services will be ensured

Keeping in mind the current severe winter conditions, Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur said that this campaign will start on January 16 and the next phase of health camps in other districts will be started in a planned manner after January 26, in which quality services will be ensured keeping in mind the safety and health of senior citizens.

Take advantage of the service – Cabinet Minister

Appealing to senior citizens and their families, the Cabinet Minister said that they should participate in large numbers in the district-level camps starting from January 16 and take maximum advantage of the free health, legal and welfare services provided by the Punjab Government.
