2.37 lakh children got financial security

The welfare of children is the first priority of the government.

Punjab News: The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to the welfare of every section of the state. Under this series, concrete steps are being taken continuously by the government to ensure safe, respectable and all-round development of dependent and orphan children.

Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur said that the Punjab Government has so far released financial assistance of Rs 314.22 crore for the dependent and orphan children of the state, which has brought security and stability in the lives of thousands of children.

He said that under this scheme, regular financial assistance is being given to 2 lakh 37 thousand 406 dependent and orphan children of the state, so that these children can get education with financial support and join the mainstream of the society and move towards a self-reliant life.

Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur said that dependent and orphan children are not just government figures, but are the collective responsibility of the society. He said that the Hon’ble Government is ensuring that no child is deprived of his education and dreams due to compulsion, neglect or financial weakness. Punjab Government stands with every such child with sensitivity and responsibility.

The Cabinet Minister further said that the benefit of this scheme can be availed by those children who are below 21 years of age and whose parents are either no more, or both are absent from home, or are unable to take care of the family due to physical and mental disability.
