Jaskaran Singh, resident of Ludhiana, received the Best Male Playback Singer award in the Kannada category at the Filmfare Awards South 2026. He was given this honor for the song ‘Dwapara’ from the film ‘Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi’, which has given him a strong identity in the South Industry. This achievement is special because it is not easy for a Punjabi singer to achieve this position in the Kannada industry.

How did you start your journey?

Jaskaran’s musical journey started about eight years ago, when he participated in the Tamil reality show ‘Saare Ga Ma Pa’ and reached the top-4. This platform opened the way for him to get recognition in the South Industry. After this he worked hard continuously and proved himself by singing songs in different languages. Jaskaran Singh did not limit himself to just one language. He sang songs in Tamil as well as Telugu and Kannada and impressed people with his tunes. This specialty of his makes him different from other singers and that is why he got such huge success in the South.

Jaskaran became very emotional after hearing the news of the award nomination. He told, ‘After hearing the news of nomination, I became completely silent for a few minutes and then the first thing I called my father and told him about it.’ Jaskaran believes that music has no language and it has the power to connect everyone. He also said, ‘I used to listen to songs and practice every day so that I can improve myself.’

According to media reports, Jaskaran, who lives in Sector-32 of Ludhiana, took music training since childhood. He learned classical music from Kapil Sharma and western singing from Hanit Taneja. He gives credit for his success to his family, teachers and especially his mentors, who supported him at every step.
