Moscow. Russia is ready to mediate to stop the ongoing conflict between America and Iran. Russia’s permanent representative to Vienna-based international organizations Mikhail Ulyanov has said that Russia is ready to mediate peace talks between Iran and the US if needed. “Of course, Russia is ready to mediate if necessary,” he told Russian newspaper Izvestia.
He said that although it seems difficult to restart talks between America and Iran, the main objectives of both sides cannot be achieved through military force. According to Ulyanov, Iran will welcome Russia’s mediation. The Russian diplomat said that America has made it clear that it does not need mediation, because it believes that it can handle the situation itself. “The Americans are actually handling this very poorly,” he said.
